About the writer.

Hi, my name is Izzy Ramirez, I'm an immigration and breaking news reporter based in Los Angeles, California. I've spent the last year working on archiving and documenting the relentless ICE siege of Los Angeles and Southern California for a permanent historical record. I've also written about national news, the resistance surrounding the siege, and kept a record of those who have perished under ICE custody or through ICE-related means.

The future of journalism lies within the neighborhoods these incidents come from. Local community watchers themselves are recording each individual state-sponsored kidnapping, and I believe it is imperative that we have a record tracking all of these incidents across our region.

As a former L.A. TACO staff reporter, I have learned a lot about the siege along the way, and I don't intend to stop. I've gone independent to maintain my own editorial oversight and to keep the truth open. I hope you consider subscribing and supporting my work.
